Falcao confirmed – “Signing for United is a dream come true” Posted: 01 Sep 2014 02:47 PM PDT The signing of Ramadel Falcao has finally been confirmed! United have applied for an extension for another hour to finalise the paperwork, after the player’s late arrival to the club. However, this hasn’t stopped the player giving an interview with The Independent. “It’s a dream come true to join a club like Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said. “I’ve always dreamt about playing for one of the truly great teams and winning lots of trophies. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you can’t turn that down.” It has been reported that United will pay the striker around £250,000-a-week and have the option to sign him on a permanent basis for just over £40m at the end of the season. |
PICTURE: Blind wins Player of the Year in Holland Posted: 01 Sep 2014 02:35 PM PDT Daley Blind was tonight awarded with the Golden Boot, the prize given to the Player of the Year in Holland. Louis van Gaal was also at the ceremony. His father, Danny Blind, played for Ajax and won the Golden Boot in 1995 and again in 1996. Danny is the only Dutch player to have won all international club competitions recognised by UEFA and FIFA. Here’s to Daley following in his footsteps! |
Posted: 01 Sep 2014 01:27 PM PDT The BBC have reported that Arsenal have signed Danny Welbeck on a permanent basis. The Times have reported the figure is £18m. Two hours ago it was reported that Welbeck was having a medical with the North London club, but Arsenal released a statement to “categorically deny” any deal was in place. When this was announced to the fans outside the Emirates this evening, the fans present cheered. All the best at Arsenal, Danny. |
PICTURE: Blind with United shirt after joining “biggest club in the world” Posted: 01 Sep 2014 12:38 PM PDT Despite the agreement being made last week, this evening the transfer of Daley Blind from Ajax to Manchester United was confirmed. “It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United,” he said. “I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there. Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world.” Louis van Gaal is in Holland with the player this evening at the Player of the Year awards. Blind was named the best player in Holland last season. Whilst also being able to play at left-back, he played in central midfield for Ajax last season, and completed 1777 passes. No midfielder in the Eredivisie completed more. “I am delighted Daley has signed for the club,” Van Gaal said. “He is a very intelligent and versatile footballer that can play in many positions. Daley is a great reader of the game, he has played under my philosophy over a number of years and he will be a great addition to the team.” |
Posted: 01 Sep 2014 11:41 AM PDT Ajax have just confirmed that Daley Blind is now officially a Manchester United player. Whilst the agreement between the two clubs had been reached last week, there were certain conditions, which Ajax don’t specify, that were fulfilled today. The player was bought for £13.8m. Blind is in Hilversum, Holland, this evening for the Player of the Year awards, after being named the best player in the Eredivisie last season. |
Posted: 01 Sep 2014 11:24 AM PDT There were reports earlier today that Danny Welbeck was having a medical at Arsenal ahead of his £6 million loan move. Tottenham Hotspur had been favourites to sign him but the striker preferred a move to their North London rivals. However, his agent has claimed that Welbeck has the option to leave the club on a permanent basis, with the assumption being made that it was to Arsenal. “There have been a few clubs in for Danny and they're looking for loan deals with a view to buying, but Danny doesn't want to go on loan,” he said. “He wants a straight transfer and he has every right to say that. Arsenal have denied that any deal is in place to bring the striker to the Emirates though, whilst Sky Sports claim a medical has taken place. |
Chicharito leaves for Real Madrid Posted: 01 Sep 2014 06:07 AM PDT Javier Hernandez has joined Real Madrid on a season long loan, with the Spanish club having the first option to buy him at the end of the season. Chicharito leaves United with the fourth best scoring rate in Premier League history. With 130 minutes per goal, Chicharito is behind Sergio Aguero (113 minutes), Thierry Henry (122) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (128). His rate is better than the likes of Robin van Persie (135) and Luis Suarez (139). |
Posted: 01 Sep 2014 03:03 AM PDT Incredibly, Manchester United have managed to loan Radamel Falcao from Monaco for the 2014-15 season. United have reportedly agreed a £6m loan deal and will have the option to sign the striker permanently at the end of the season. The striker is currently earning £300k-a-week but United will only be paying part of those wages. Falcao hasn’t enjoyed his time with Monaco after signing for close to £50m last summer. He scored 9 goals in 17 league appearances. However, his scoring record before moving to France was significantly better. The 28-year-old scored 34 goals in 43 games in his first season for Porto, after signing from River Plate. In his second season he scored 38 goals in 42 games. Then he signed for Atletico Madrid, where he scored 36 goals in his first season and 34 in his second. |
