United agree deal for Falcao

Posted: 01 Sep 2014 02:33 AM PDT

imageManchester United have agreed a season-long deal for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, subject to the Colombian passing a medical at Carrington later on Monday.

According to Sky Sports, the deal for the former Atletico Madrid centre-forward includes the option of United signing the 28-year-old, who missed out on the World Cup in the summer after suffering a serious knee injury last season.

Falcao was on the radar of a host of European clubs, including Real Madrid, Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester City but United look to have won the race to the Colombian.

ROCK ME! Falcao to United?

imageAll summer, Manchester United’s transfer activity has been long, drawn out and a hive of speculation but, overnight, from nowhere, initial rumours of their interest in Monaco’s Radamel Falcao has rapidly evolved into reports he’s all-but a done deal.

According to Colombia-based journalist for DirecTV Sports, Saris Bello, Manchester United will bring the Colombian international to Old Trafford for four seasons with a fee of €65 million

"Falcao to Manchester United for €65 million euros, for 4 seasons. City can't sign him due to Financial Fair Play.

"In the coming hours, Falcao will officially join Manchester United, after the deal is finalised he'll travel tomorrow [to Manchester] and later undergo his medical."

Who would’ve thought a few years ago that this is what would become of Manchester United on transfer deadline day. Getting our business done early and letting others embroil themselves in the madness of September 1st seems a dim and distant memory, I know this summer (like previously ignored summers) there is a desperate need for an overhaul, but I sincerely hope this isn’t a sign of how United plan to operate in the coming years.

It’s going to be a long, mad, but possibly landmark day.

Hernandez set for loan

United’s Mexican striker, Chicharito, has agreed to join Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

With his 1st team chances limited under Van Gaal a move to a club in the Champions League is a fantastic opportunity for ‘the little pea’, hopefully he’ll celebrate his trip to Anfield later this year with a hat-trick!

Who’ll be next to leave?

Kagawa exit begins United exodus

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 09:41 AM PDT

Shinji KagawaWith little more than 24hrs of the summer transfer window remaining, Shinji Kagawa has agreed to rejoin Borussia Dortmund after what can only be considered as a disappointing two year spell at Manchester United.

German newspaper, Bild, are reporting that Kagawa has agreed terms earlier today with United receiving a fee of just £6.3m.

Kagawa joined United for a fee in the region of £20m in 2012 and, just as many players recently seem to do, splits opinion between fans with some believing he’s not up to the job whilst others believe he’s not been given adequate opportunities to prove himself.

Wherever the truth lies I guess we’ll never find out. Personally I think Kagawa’s spell at United is indicative of what’s going wrong at United in recent years. A strange, expensive and seemingly unnecessary purchase when other areas of the squad required improving has turned out to be yet another error of judgement by those entrusted with the honour of running the club.

In the next 24hrs it’s likely MANY United players will head for the exit with many disillusioned with life within Carrington in recent years, months and even weeks.

Be prepared for an exodus and for one or two big surprises.

United midfielder returns to Europe

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 09:19 AM PDT

Shinji KagawaShinji Kagawa has left Manchester United after just two seasons to return to Borussia Dortmund, the club from which United had signed him in the summer of 2012.

Dortmund are believed to have paid around £7m for the 25-year-old, half of what they received for him two years ago, with the Japanese’s price-tag driven down by two difficult seasons, during which he never managed to establish himself as regular starter at United, despite arriving at Old Trafford amid much promise.

The Japanese was deemed surplus to requirements by Louis Van Gaal and with Juan Mata, Angel Di Maria, Adnan Januzaj and Wayne Rooney all capable of occupying the number 10 role, his opportunities looked to be even more limited, particularly given Van Gaal’s inclination to play a 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

Kagawa leaves Old Trafford after 57 games in all competitions, during which he scored six goals and assisted 10, compared to the 29 goals and 16 assists he had recored in 79 games in all competitions during his first stint at Dortmund.
