Ancelotti: Di Maria has asked to leave Real Posted: 21 Aug 2014 05:04 AM PDT The Argentina international has been the subject of widespread media speculation during the transfer window, with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain heavily linked with the 26-year-old. PSGpresident Nasser Al-Khelaifi claimeda fortnight ago that their interest in the player had ended due to Real demanding a hefty fee. In a press conference on Thursday, Ancelotti revealed that Di Maria had stated his wish to move on, which will alert his potential suitors. "Di Maria has asked to leave andrejected an offer from club," he said."[But] if he does not find a future solution he stays,no problem." Sami Khedira has also been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeuand Ancelotticonfirmed thatthe Germany international has decided against agreeing a new contract, possibly opening the door for a transfer in the near future. "Khedira has one more year andhas rejected new deal," said Ancelotti. "It is different than Di Maria as he has not asked to leave." With Real preparing for their Supercopa de Espana second leg against Atletico Madrid on Friday, Ancelottibelieves star man Cristiano Ronaldo should be available, after being withdrawn at half-time in Tuesday's first leg, which ended 1-1. "Ronaldo has trained well," he said. "He had a normal session and is available. He could start. "To win at the [Vicente]Calderon, wemust play with intensity and faster than the first leg.Atletico has the advantage of the positive results obtained and will play as in the Bernabeu." Van Gaal retains focus on Man United team ethic Posted: 21 Aug 2014 12:41 AM PDT Despite initial optimism surrounding his appointment in May -followinga woeful campaign under David Moyes -United were brought back down to earth with a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday. Argentina international Marcos Rojo became the club's third signing of the transfer window on Wednesday, but the club have come in for criticism due to a lack of stellar arrivals. Arturo Vidal, Cesc Fabregas and Thomas Muller have all been reported targets, althoughVan Gaal has only able to add to Rojo, Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw to his squad. However, the former Netherlands coach insists implementing a culture of team ethic and workrate remainhis primary focus. "If I want to create a winning team, I have to make sure each individual is trained in the perfect way," The Mirror quotes Van Gaal as saying. "So, I spend more time on individual improvement than on team improvement. The sum of all the individual improvements will define the success rate of the team. "This is why I am not a great believer in one world-class player in a team. I will never build a team around one world-class player. "That leads to disaster. What happens when that one player gets injured? It would mean the team will collapse, as they can't do without him." Van Gaal saw Nani leave Old Trafford for Sporting Lisbon on loan as part of the Rojo deal, with the Dutchman open to further departures ahead of the closing of the window on September 1. "As a manager, I have found that I am dealing with players who are not able to perform at the level I expect and players who don't want to perform how I want," he added. "Both categories of players will be shown the door." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
