Di Maria: United the only club I’d have left Real Madrid for Posted: 26 Aug 2014 11:13 AM PDT Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Angel Di Maria for a British transfer fee of £59.7million. “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United,” he said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started.” Di Maria gave an interview in 2009 saying it had been his dream to play for United since he was 13. |

Why was Van der Sar at Carrington today? Blind? Posted: 26 Aug 2014 10:16 AM PDT We’ve all seen the pictures of Angel di Maria leaving Carrington last night, and then more pictures today of his agent with Louis van Gaal, with news of his signing supposedly imminent. However, it has been confirmed that Edwin Van der Sar has been at Carrington today too. He was filmed leaving the training ground in her Merc earlier this afternoon. There is of course the possibility that our former goalkeeper was in the area and decided to pop in on a few friends. Or there’s the alternate explanation is that Van der Sar was there on behalf of Ajax to discuss the potential transfer of Daley Blind. Our former goalie has been on Ajax’s board for the past two years. Sky Sports reported his presence was related to Blind, but it wouldn’t be usual for a club to send their Marketing Director to discuss a deal. Blind’s agent, Rob Jansen, denied earlier today that any contact had been made. “At this moment Manchester United have not been in touch with me or Ajax about Daley and I’m not sitting here waiting for the call,” he said.
