Buttner ready to walk away from Old Trafford Posted: 18 Jun 2014 09:35 AM PDT The 25-year-old Dutchman has made just 28 appearances since arriving from Vitesse two years ago, having been signed as cover for Patrice Evra. However, with France international Evra penning a new 12-month contract recently and United reportedly plotting moves for the likes of Luke Shaw and Daley Blind, Buttner's hopes of a first-team slot look increasingly unlikely. Buttner believes the impending arrival of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford also limits his chances, after being repeatedly snubbed by the current Netherlands boss on the international scene. Buttner told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf:"Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United. "Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave." Buttner's agent Aleksander Bursac added: "Dinamo Moscow has great plans for the future and they want to challenge for the title." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Evra enjoying feel-good factor in French squad Posted: 18 Jun 2014 08:51 AM PDT France had to deal with off-field controversy at the World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championship two years later, leading to poor results. A host of French players refuse to train in South Africa after Nicolas Anelka was sent home, while in 2012 the likes of Samir Nasri, Hatem Ben Arfa, Jeremy Menez and Yann M'Vilawere the subject of disciplinary hearings. However, Evra, who was captain during the 2010 scandal, feels the squad is more united in Brazil. "There are no problems with egos. The scary thing about this France squad is that everything is fine. We feel proud to wear the shirt," he said on Wednesday. "I try to give the best of myself. In 2010, I took my role too seriously "I always love myself. I know it's a bit arrogant but I loved the Pat of 2010 and I love the Pat of 2014. "(But) we must stop saying that I am the captain. It's Hugo (Lloris). "I was it in 2010, that's enough for me." France ran out 3-0 winners against Honduras in their opening game on Sunday and meet Switzerland next in Group E on Friday. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Sneijder open to summer Man United switch Posted: 18 Jun 2014 07:32 AM PDT Van Gaal will swap the national team for life at Old Trafford at the conclusion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which his team started with a 5-1 thrashing of world and European champions Spain last week. The 30-year-old moved to Turkish Super Lig outfit Galatasaray in January 2013 and was particularly influential last term, scoring 17 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions. Sneijder is happy at the club but added that his affection for Van Gaal could tempt him to join a club in United that he has been regularly linked with in recent years. "In the Netherlands, Van Gaal is something like the head teacher of a school," he said. "Not everyone is lucky enough to get into his good books. He trains his players very hard and always expects the highest standards. "I am happy at Galatasaray, I have established myself at the club and have settled in. "However, if Van Gaal were to make me an offer, I would have to at least consider it. "Nobody from the Netherlands can simply reject Van Gaal." Ajax announce signing of Croatia starlet Muric Posted: 18 Jun 2014 06:00 AM PDT The Croatian forward joins Ajax on a four-year deal and his arrival is a significant coup for the club, who have reportedly beaten a host of potential suitors in the race to sign Muric. The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea were said to be keen on securing his services after he became a free agent following his departure fromDinamo Zagreb. A club statement read: "Ajax have reached agreement with Robert Muric. "He signs a contract which begins on July 1, 2014, and runs until June 30, 2018. "The 18-year-old youth international played last season with Dinamo Zagreb. There will be a number of formalities to be fulfilled before Muric (will) play for Ajax." Muric scored twice for Croatia at last year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Hummels not thinking about United rumours Posted: 18 Jun 2014 03:50 AM PDT United have been linked with a move for the Germany centre-back as they look to bounce back from a poor Premier League campaign. But United may be forced to look elsewhere with the 25-year-old expressing a desire to remain at Dortmund. And while Hummels did not rule out a future move, he expects to stay at the Bundesliga giants. "I never think about that (Manchester United) or talk about it because it is something that isn't important for me right now," Hummels is quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph. "Maybe it will be some day, but I don't expect it to be like that this summer." Hummels battled an ankle injury last season and was limited to 34 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund. The defender is representing Germany at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and scored a header in their 4-0 thrashing of Portugal on Monday.
