Mata: It’s hard to get your head around the phenomenon Manchester United Posted: 23 May 2014 01:44 PM PDT Juan Mata has reflected on his decision to sign for Manchester United and be in a position to play alongside his hero, Ryan Giggs. “It’s hard to get your head around the phenomenon Manchester United is and the presence it has worldwide until you’re there – it’s a giant,” he said. “After the presentation, I was with my parents and I got a message on my phone. It was Ryan Giggs wishing me luck and telling me he was a bit upset because he wasn’t the best left-footer on the team anymore. Obviously it was a joke, but it made me happy for someone like him to say that about me. I never imagined I would get to play alongside him. When he started, I was 2 years old. I’ll always be able to say that I played alongside him.” ------------ The Republik of Mancunia has brought out a brilliant downloadable review for the 2013-2014 season. CONFIRMED: Evra has extended his contract Posted: 23 May 2014 09:26 AM PDT Manchester United have confirmed that Patrice Evra has extended his contract for another year, after his current deal expired today. Some newspapers reported last week that Evra had been spotted in Turin ahead of a medical at Juventus, but this story was denied by the player’s agent, Claudia Pastorello, “The guy hasn’t been to Turin,” he revealed. “That he’s a player who Antonio Conte likes is true but I think he will stay at Manchester United. A transfer to Juventus is very difficult.” The club have released the names of players who will not be playing for United next season, which is Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jack Barmby and Federico Macheda. ------------ The Republik of Mancunia has brought out a brilliant downloadable review for the 2013-2014 season. The Dutch players Van Gaal will want at United Posted: 23 May 2014 01:30 AM PDT 'When I make a mistake, it can leave me sleepless at night. Luckily, I am hardly ever wrong'. Louis van Gaal is a man who is confident of his decisions. So when he sees something in a player, he is not shy to give them a chance on a higher stage than what other people deemed would be fitting. With his regard for the Eredivisie (in February 2013, he stated that the Dutch top tier was of a similar level as the Italian Serie A) and his in-depth knowledge of the competition it would not be a surprise to see the future Manchester United manager bring in some unproven talent from the Netherlands. In Clasie, Janmaat and Depay the Eredivisie possesses a trio of players that together probably would be obtainable for a mere 30 million pounds and could well add something to a Manchester United coached by Van Gaal.
