The 19-year-old was born in Brussels but qualified to represent a host of countries including Albania, Serbia and Turkey. Januzaj's international career had been subject to much speculation after he broke into the first-team set-up at Old Trafford this season, but Wilmots has claimed the teenager has chosen to play for Belgium. "I have received official confirmation that Adnan Januzaj makes himself available for the Belgian national team for the rest of his career," Wilmots posted on his official Twitter account. "This is good news and I am delighted that such a talented player can be selected for (Belgium)" Januzaj has become a regular at United during what has been a tumultuous season for the reigning Premier League champions - culminating in the sacking of manager David Moyes on Tuesday. He has made 32 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four times, and could now be in line for a place in Belgium's FIFA World Cup squad. Vorm endorses Van Gaal for Man United role

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 08:43 AM PDT

United are searching for a managerial successor to David Moyes, who had his six-year deal terminated less than 12 months into his tenure on Tuesday following a poor debut season that has seen United slump in the defence of the Premier League title. Van Gaal is among the favourites to take the reins at Old Trafford after he steps down from his role as head coach of the Netherlands after the FIFA World Cup. Vorm - who has worked under Van Gaal for the national team - believes the 62-year-old possesses all the attributes to cope with the pressures that come with being United manager. Speaking toSky Sports News, the Swansea goalkeepersaid: "I think he's very clever. You can tell that he's got a lot of experience and he analyses teams very well. "He's very straightforward and, for me, he's one of the best managers that I've worked with because he makes it very clear what he wants. It doesn't matter who you are - he treats everybody the same. "If he comes to the Premier League, he will do well no matter which team he's going to coach. I'm 100 per cent sure that with his experience and what he's already achieved, he would fit the bill at United."

Hamann: Benitez would be good for Man United

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 08:32 AM PDT

Moyes' tenure was cut short after less than 12 months of his six-year deal on Tuesday, following a disappointing debut campaign at Old Trafford that saw United surrender their Premier League crown meekly, while qualification for the UEFA Champions League is out of the club's reach. Club stalwart Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge, but is not thought to be among the contenders to take on the role on a permanent basis. Benitez's name has not been mentioned among the front-runners to become the next United boss, the Spaniard's previous time in charge of rivals Liverpool would make his appointment an unpopular one among the Old Trafford supporters. Furthermore, Benitez - who also had a spell as interim manager at Chelsea - had several run-ins with Moyes' predecessor Alex Ferguson, who is a United legend after 27 trophy-laden years in at the helm. But Hamann - who enjoyed a successful spell playing under Benitez at Liverpool - believes the 54-year-old's Premier League experience makes him the ideal candidate to take over. Speaking totalkSPORT,he said: "It is certainly a name they should consider. "They need somebody with a track record who can work with the big players, who knows what is required to get in the Champions League and play a big role in it for years to come. "Rafa Benitez is in Italy at Napoli but his family still lives in the north west and he has always made it clear that he would love to return to the Premier League at some stage. "The way it is going at Liverpool, I don't think he will be there any time soon and he has been at Chelsea, so there are not too many clubs out there for him. I don't think Arsenal will suit him. "He, and Manchester United, will be a very good match. He had a few run-ins with Fergie but he only pointed out a few facts, as he would say. "If I was a United fan I would want somebody who gives you the best possible chance to get back in the Champions League."

Giggs not ready for Man United job, says May

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 07:35 AM PDT

Giggs has been placed in temporary charge after United dispensed of former boss David Moyes on Tuesday, just 10 months into a six-year contract. Moyes has paid the price for a poor campaign that has seen United relinquish their Premier League crown with a whimper, while the club are unable to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League. Giggs is not thought to be a contender to take the position full time, and May - a former team-mate of the Welshman - believes it is too soon for the 41-year-old to take charge permanently and would like to see Borussia Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp or current Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal handed the reins. "I think it will be the wrong decision if Giggsy becomes the manager," he told Perform. "So much as he has been an unbelievable player and an ambassador for United, it's totally different managing and playing football. "I think the club will go out and get somebody with experience, with that winning mentality, that attack-minded mentality as well that's been sorely missed this season. "For me, I'd go for Klopp at Dortmund, I think he's been fantastic but he's ruled himself out already. Managers will do that because they don't want to upset their own club. "If United go knocking on his door and make a few lines towards bringing him on board then he might change his mind. "I think at the moment Van Gaal is the favourite - he's got a track record of winning things as well at huge clubs, so going down that line, I think United will be pushing Liverpool, City and Chelsea next season. "He will have the character to overcome all the hype that goes with it (managing Manchester United)." May believes United are fully justified in dismissing Moyes, as the results under him have simply not been good enough. He added: "I think the results say it all, really. Over the season, to lose 11 games, six at home, it's one of those times - do you make change now, or do you make change at the end of the season? "I think the club have done wisely and chosen to do it before the end of the season."

Moyes breaks silence with dignified statement

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 05:12 AM PDT

Uniteds Premier League defence never got going after they lost three of their first six games and they sit seventh in the table with four matches of the season remaining. Their UEFA Champions League chances were ended following Sundays 2-0 loss at Everton the club that Moyes left United for in the close-season and the Scot lost his job on Tuesday as a result. In a dignified statement released by the League Managers Association (LMA), Moyes said he was incredibly proud for the chance to manage United, before thanking the clubs staff and supporters, but curiously not the players. He also acknowledged that results had not been what the clubs supporters expected and thanked Alex Ferguson - who ended his stunning 27-year reign at Old Trafford in 2013 - for recommending him for the top job. Moyes said: To have been appointed as manager of Manchester United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, was and remains something of which I will always be incredibly proud. Taking charge after such a long period of continuous stability and success at the club was inevitably going to be a significant challenge, but it was one which I relished and never had a second thought about taking on. The scale of the managers job at United is immense, but I have never stepped away from hard work and the same applies to my coaching staff. I thank them for their dedication and loyalty throughout the last season. We were fully focused and committed to the process of the fundamental rebuilding that is required for the senior squad. This had to be achieved whilst delivering positive results in the Barclays Premier League and the Champions League. However, during this period of transition, performances and results have not been what Manchester United and its fans are used to or expect, and I both understand and share their frustration. In my short time at the club I have learnt what special places Old Trafford and (the clubs training ground) Carrington are. I would like to thank the United staff for making me feel so welcome and part of the United family from my first day. And of course thank you to those fans who have supported me throughout the season. I wish you and the club all the best for the future. I have always believed that a manager never stops learning during his career and I know I will take invaluable experience from my time as Uniteds manager. I remain proud to have led the team to the quarter-finals of this years Champions League and I remain grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson for believing in my ability and giving me the chance to manage Manchester United. The LMA also stated they were unhappy with Moyes departure, with chief executive Richard Bevan accusing United of acting in an unprofessional manner. Chief executive Richard Bevan said: The LMA is very disappointed with the nature of Davids departure from Manchester United and to read extensive reports in the press, confirming Davids sacking, before David himself had been spoken to officially by the club. Throughout his time at United, David, as he always does, has conducted himself with integrity and professionalism, values that he believes in and that have been strongly associated with the club and its rich tradition. It is therefore sad to see the end of Davids tenure at United being handled in an unprofessional manner.

Giggs quick to ask for Scholes assistance

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 03:58 AM PDT

Giggs was appointed in a caretaker role on Tuesday after David Moyes was sacked less than 12 months into his six-year deal. And with Saturday's home clash against Norwich City fast approaching, Giggs called on Scholes to help prepare his side in Wednesday's training session. Former United team-mates Nicky Butt and Phil Neville – who are on the club's coaching staff – were also present at the club's Carrington training complex. Butt coaches the club's Under-19 team and Scholes has assisted in their European campaign. Neville remains part of the club's first-team staff despite the departure of Moyes, who he also worked with at Everton. United are languishing in seventh in the Premier League table, 23 points behind table-toppers Liverpool. Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Everton extinguished their UEFA Champions League hopes but fixtures against Norwich, Sunderland, Hull City and Southampton should see them end the season on a high.
