Januzaj: I want to stay at United for life Posted: 13 Dec 2013 11:44 AM PST Adnan Januzaj has been one of the few things United fans have had to get excited about this season. The youngster has made the transition from the youth team to the first team without batting an eye-lid and is easily our best performing winger. At the beginning of the season he signed a 5-year-deal with the club, despite the interest of top clubs all around Europe, and has expressed his desire to end his career here. “You always have to keep going and work hard if you want to be even better,” he told MUTV. “My parents always told me to keep my feet on the ground, keep working and, if you can, try to be the best player in the world. In football it’s not [about] age. If you’re good enough to play, you have to play. I think the boss gave me the chance because he’s known for giving a chance to young players. He’s a top manager and knows exactly what he is doing with the players and everything else. My first opinion was to sign for Manchester United – that was my first choice. Now I’ve signed for them and I’m happy here. If I could play all my life at Manchester United, I would do it for the club. Winning trophies is the only thing I want and to try to be the best player.” |
Posted: 13 Dec 2013 06:16 AM PST Robin Van Persie has been ruled out of action for a month. A thigh injury will prevent him playing for United until 2014. “Robin van Persie is out as well for a month,” Moyes told reporters. “He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal.” With United desperate to improve our place in the table, an injury to the league top scorer for the past two seasons really is the last thing we need. There have been rumours that Van Persie is unhappy with David Moyes’ training methods. In the summer, the new manager was criticised by some for acknowledging that he had been “overtraining” the Dutch striker. Having got through last season practically injury-free, questions will be asked of Moyes and any possible impact he’s having on Van Persie’s fitness. |
