Posted: 23 Nov 2013 01:00 AM PST Michael Carrick has signed a new contract with United which will keep him at the club until 2015, with the possible option of a further year. This is a rare move for the club, given that players in their 30s are usually only offered one year extensions. Ryan Giggs was given a two year deal in 2005 but other than that, our older players aren’t given the security of longer deals. “The club has gone through a few changes and working under David Moyes has been fantastic,” said Carrick. “I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to achieving more in the future.” |
Moyes: I hope to work with Ronaldo one day Posted: 23 Nov 2013 12:30 AM PST If you listen to some people, Cristiano Ronaldo to United was a viable option last summer, before Ed Woodward came along and fucked it all up. Who knows what really went on behind the scenes but the player was apparently keen to return to United and the club were prepared to stump up the cash to buy him, mindful of how much revenue his presence at Old Trafford would generate. Ronaldo signed a contract extension with Real Madrid which could keep him at the club until 2018, but David Moyes has continued to tease fans by talking about the possibility of working with our former player, who will almost certainly be named the best player in the world again this year. “Everyone at Manchester United would tell you he is the best in the business anyway,” Moyes said. “I have not been fortunate enough to work with him but there is still hope some day it might be possible.” |
