United flop not thinking of leaving Posted: 21 Nov 2013 03:35 AM PST
Over the last couple of weeks, the Brazilian has been linked with a move to Fulham – presumably as the Cottagers are determined to secure a relegation spot – while a return to former club Porto and even a move back to Brazil were touted as more or less viable options for the 25-year-old.
However, those who were looking forward to the January transfer window in the hope they’d finally see the – rather large – back of Anderson will be disappointed to read that the United midfielder is perfectly happy with the current situation, and he does not see his limited involvement as an issue. "I haven't spoken to David Moyes about my situation because I think I have a good situation at the moment,” Anderson told the Manchester Evening News. “I love this club and I have been here for over six years. I cannot say anything about other clubs showing an interest. I am at Manchester United and am a Manchester United player. "But I am not unhappy. I am enjoying it and I know I will be ready whenever the manager picks me. I am not thinking about moving on.” Anderson has attracted his fair share of criticism over the last couple of seasons, but it’s hard to blame him for not entertaining the thought of leaving the club. At United Anderson receives a salary likely to be way higher than any other financial package he would be granted at a different club, while his limited playing time clearly isn’t an issue for a player who’s never resembled a model professional and who seems happier to sit on the bench at United than fight for his spot at another club. “All I am thinking about is helping my team, my team-mates and doing the best for myself. I am a Manchester United player, I love the fans, I love the club. I love the way everyone supports the club – it is amazing. "It is very hard when you only play a small part now and then. I had a lot of injuries last season. I have come back now to help United. I came back in pre-season and felt good and I have been fit now all season.” Anderson hasn’t feature for United since playing in the 2-1 defeat against West Brom at home at the end of September but, with Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini all carrying injuries, he could soon get his chance again. And despite his nice words for the club, that remains an uninspiring thought. |

The 20-year-old striker has impressed since returning to action, scoring three goals in his last four appearances for club and country and is expected to be the “exciting” striker Wigan manager Owen Coyle has revealed to be on his way to the DW Stadium.
Even though the former Burnley manager refused to reveal the identity of the player, Will Keane is widely expected to join the Latics and reunite with fellow United loanee Nick Powell, who’s enjoying an impressive loan spell at the DW Stadium, during which he’s already found the net twice. Speaking to the Evening Post, Coyle said : “Everything is agreed in principle, verbally, but until we get that signed, I’m very reluctant to give any name. “I’m always reluctant until everything is concluded to commit myself, but we are very close to getting that concluded – I am very hopeful of that. “It’s a young player who is an exciting player, a striker who I’ve watched for a number of years and I’m a huge admirer of. “It will certainly add to the squad, we want to make sure that we have a squad that will cope with the demands of the set of fixtures that are in front of us.” Keane could undoubtedly benefit from a loan spell, both in terms of regaining fitness and in terms of becoming acquainted with a different level of football from the one he’s currently experiencing at U-21 level. Furthermore, United have been successful with loaning players at Wigan, with Tom Cleverley impressive for the Latics before returning to Old Trafford, while Nick Powell has been widely tipped to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season, having matured under Coyle’s tutelage this season. Wigan have another dozen fixtures left before January and, should Keane distinguish himself throughout the next five weeks, the Latics could even decide to extend the deal for the remainder of the season.

Only one title rival for United Posted: 20 Nov 2013 08:48 AM PST
Despite United’s slow start to the season, the man whose goal sealed the 1999 Treble, now manager at Molde in the Norwegian’s first division, has been extremely impressed with United’s recent progress, which has seen David Moyes’ men pick up 13 points in their last five league games and winning the last three Premier League matches in a row.
“David’s started slowly, then the machinery has started to work now so I’m pleased with the progress they’ve made. “Everyone’s talking about a bad, bad start but if you look at the other championship contenders, they’re not very far ahead,” said Solksjaer. The former United striker was adamant that, despite the many doubts that have been casted over Moyes’ appointment and the quality of his squad, the Reds can go on and retain the title, adding that Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea – themselves not enjoying the best of forms – are the only credible rivals. “Man United and Chelsea, those two for me are the main contenders. Of course Man United can win it, absolutely no problem. “They’ve got the players to do it, they’ve got the history to do it. Now when David is getting to know the players, I’m sure we’ll improve. I’m still saying ‘we’. After almost 15 years you still feel a part.” Having rejected the opportunity to take charge of Aston Villa two seasons ago, Solskjaer hasn’t given up his dream of managing in the Premier League one day and told Sky Sports News: “I said it when I came back here that I just want to see if I can manage and if I enjoy it. “If I do and there’s offers coming, then I’d like to see myself in the Premier League one day.”
