Van Gaal: Excitement for United job means holiday isn’t needed

Last night, Louis van Gaal’s Holland beat host-nation Brazil to find themselves officially the third best team at this summer’s World Cup.

However, Holland’s success in the competition has meant that Van Gaal only has ten days now before his first game in charge as Manchester United manager. However, the Dutchman says the excitement about the task in hand means he’s no need to worry about being too worn out from the World Cup.

“I don't need a holiday,” said Van Gaal. “It's great to have such an exciting challenge. To work daily with young people is something that I don't need time off to rest for. I'm looking forward to it. I've only met two people from the daily management at the club – the chief scout and the chief executive officer. And I've met two of the owners. It's time that I get to know more people at the club.”
