An enormous golden “Chevrolet” logo has replaced the “AON” brand that had characterised United’s shirts over the last three seasons, while the white collar returns after a two-season long absence and a label inside the collar carries the words “Youth, Courage, Greatness” which isn’t every United missed under David Moyes but, according to United’s official website, the pillars upon which the club is built.
United will wear the kit for the first time on July 23rd when United take on Los Angeles Galaxy as part of their North American tour.

Serie A to offer escape route for United flop? Posted: 07 Jul 2014 04:09 AM PDT
Last week reports suggesting that Louis Van Gaal had told Ed Woodward “Fellaini wasn’t a United player” emerged, before the former Everton man told Sky Sports that he “had nothing to prove” despite a dismal debut season at Old Trafford and that he remained confident his future would be resolved this summer.
Late on Sunday night, Italian sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport reported that Fiorentina have shown interest in the Belgian, with La Viola‘s manager, Vincenzo Montella, in the market for a versatile midfielder with international experience to deploy alongside Borja Valero, the creative hub of Fiorentina’s midfield. Fellaini might have shown little in terms of versatility and even less in terms of performances in his first season at Old Trafford, during which he completely failed to justify his £27m price tag as he started just 12 Premier League games in an injury-hit season, but he looked more at ease during Belgium’s World Cup campaign. The lanky Belgian doesn’t seem the sort of player capable to fit in Van Gaal’s football philosophy and United would surely be interested in any offer that would allow them to recoup at least a fraction of the £27m David Moyes splashed out last summer and after taking Anderson on loan for six months last season, the Florence-based club might take another midfield flop off United’s hands. Having allegedly tabled three separate offers for Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado, United could possibly use Fellaini as part of a cash-plus-player deal. |
United to open talks for Vidal Posted: 07 Jul 2014 01:22 AM PDT
United have monitored Vidal’s situation for months now but, after the 28-year-old impressive performances at the World Cup, they have seemingly decided to grab the bull by its horns and will test Juventus’ resolve with a first formal offer, which could arrive as early as this week.
Juventus value the Chilean, who’s won a Serie A title in each of his three seasons at the club, at £40m and reports on Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested yesterday that United will offer £45m for Vidal, with Nani potentially included in the deal, as the Portuguese has been on Juventus’ radar for some time. According to the Italian press, Juventus are bracing themselves for an offer from United, particularly after Vidal’s camp looks to have made clear that a move this summer isn’t as unreasonable as first thought a few months ago, when United had approached Juventus only to be met with a swift rejection, and should an offer of over £40m be deposited on their desk, Juventus are unlikely to turn it down. The Serie A champions are determined to strengthen their squad in a bid to achieve European success but have repeatedly made clear they do not intend to lose Paul Pogba, who’s been courted by Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid, and Gazzetta suggests that sacrificing Vidal would be the best option to raise enough funds to invest on other players without losing Pogba. Various English newspapers, including the Guardian and the Daily Mail, agree with their Italian counterparts, though they suggest that United will look into tabling an initial offer of about £30m plus Nani, before eventually raising their bid of a further £5-6m to convince Juventus to part way with their man. Having already invested £28.4m on Ander Herrera and £30m on Luke Shaw, United’s summer has gone underway in the solid, promising, fashion fans had got used until a couple of years ago but while both players are extremely promising prospects and could well develop into pivotal figures for the club, neither is world class as yet. Vidal, on the other hand, is arguably one of the three best central midfielders in the world and would bring dynamism, goals – he scored 31 in all competitions over the last two seasons – and energy in spades to United’s engine room – qualities that have been sorely missed for almost a decade. |
